Tips for Planning an Unforgettable Destination Wedding in Palm Beach + The Top Venues to Host Your Wedding Weekend (featuring Masi Events)

Coastal weddings are about as dreamy as they come. And as a fine art photographer based in Southern Florida, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting some of the most stunning locations the coastline has to offer.

But above all, I love Palm Beach – particularly its elegant architecture and tropical vibes. And the wedding venues in this boutique town are a feast for the fine art eyes.

My good friends Jessica and Michael Masi of Masi Events also have a sweet spot for Palm Beach. And today, they’re popping in to give you their tips for planning a destination wedding here. Plus, get the scoop on some of our favorite venues from both a wedding planner’s and photographer’s point of view.

Who is Masi Events?

We are a husband and wife planning and design team. Since 2008, we’ve planned and designed over 300 weddings and special celebrations.

As a husband and wife duo, we bring complementary strengths and skills to the planning process. Then we marry them together. So, while elevated design and logistical planning require different skills, you get the best of both with us!

From establishing budgets and selecting the best industry professionals to day-of logistics and design, we know everything it takes to produce an extraordinary event. The result? A visually stunning event. And a one-of-a-kind celebration that turns out as incredible as you imagine – only better.

The Quintessential Palm Beach Wedding

From a design standpoint, there are three unique aesthetic/societal influences that make a wedding “so Palm Beach.”

  1. Mix natural materials such as wicker, cane, and woven fabrics with classic handmade ceramic pieces to bring an understated and relaxed elegance to your design.
  2. Make a play on pattern – don’t hold back on textural patterns that play off of each other and add in pops of bright and light colors.
  3. Combine the old and the new. Mix classic pieces with feminine touches such as scalloped edging, embroidered stitching, or lace trims.

Top Tips for Planning a Palm Beach Wedding

Tip #1: Hire a great wedding planner!

We can help guide you through the process, making the experience much more enjoyable. – especially when you’re planning a destination wedding! Coordinating vendors, reviewing contracts, logistical matters, and keeping everything organized is a breeze when you have a planner by your side.

It’s also important to find someone you have a great connection with, as typically, you’re spending a year to a year and a half planning. That’s quite a bit of time to be working with someone, so you’ll want to have a good relationship.

Tip #2: Think through the wedding weekend experience you want your guests to have while in Palm Beach.

A wedding weekend is an ideal way to celebrate your nuptials and provide a getaway experience for your guests.

Consider planning fun weekend events around your wedding, like a welcome party, a pool day, or a newlywed brunch. But also, be sure to allow enough downtime for your guests to explore on their own.

A nice gesture is to give your guests welcome bags that include information on Palm Beach hotspots or places of interest. Friends and family can venture out if they choose to or sip cocktails by the resort pool.

Tip #3: Trust your team.

Some of the best in the industry are in Palm Beach! And once you have put together a fab team, trust them, and enjoy the process! It’s all about the journey to the aisle, and it’s important to have fun with it.

Masi Events’ Favorite Palm Beach Wedding Venues

The Breakers

The Breakers is the iconic jewel of Palm Beach. There are so many beautiful spaces within this seaside hotel.

Whether it’s their ocean lawn or breathtaking courtyard and ballrooms, you can feel the rich history of Palm Beach. And there are plenty of spaces for photos all over the property!

The ocean lawn is one of the best spots in South Florida for a beachfront ceremony, with gorgeous palm trees lining the area and pleasant breezes.

It’s an excellent venue for larger celebrations, and their event team is top-notch – very attentive and caring. One of our mutual client’s fathers said it best, “The Breakers is an institution that you know will withstand the test of time, and you can enjoy the space for years to come.”

The Flagler Museum

The Flagler Museum is another iconic venue with a rich history and stunning architecture. This is a wow venue that showcases elegance and sophistication.

The exterior is all white for a clean look in the photos. And the location is unparalleled, as it sits on the water.

The Pavilion is one of the most coveted parts of The Flagler! It’s a dream to design because it’s a blank slate in many ways. And its atrium aesthetic is dreamy for natural-light photos, bringing the outside in, which is always a plus in the Florida heat!

The Colony

It doesn’t get more quintessential Palm Beach than The Colony! It’s the pinkest boutique hotel on the island. So much so that we call it the Pink Paradise!

It’s colorful and design-driven, making it a picture-perfect backdrop. It’s also centrally located, near Worth Avenue and just steps from the beach. Psst…their super cute golf cart is a great photo opp too!

From a planner’s perspective, The Colony is the perfect spot if you are kicking off your wedding weekend with some spicy margaritas, having a stunning reception in the Coral Ballroom, or winding down from the festivities with bloody Mary’s poolside.

Other Noteworthy Palm Beach Venues

Palm Beach may be a small town, but it packs a punch with wonderful wedding venues. All of the following offer picturesque settings and a top-tier experience.

The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons is a favorite for its intimacy and peaceful vibes. Its pastel palette is relaxing and pairs perfectly with the calm beachfront setting. It’s one of the hotels with the most laidback luxury vibes. The restaurant is also delicious!

The Norton Museum

The Norton Museum is an art museum with a combination of art deco and modern design. It has a beautiful lush garden with art sculptures throughout that makes for a great cocktail hour setting – and photos! The reflection pool and banyan tree in front of the museum are also great photo opps.

The Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa

This venue offers opulence and sophistication. One of the most recognized parts of this hotel is all the gorgeous chandeliers, which are sure to debut in your photos! Couples always say they feel like they had a luxury escape at this resort, thanks to the helpful and attentive staff who make their wedding weekend a one-stop shop for the entirety of the event!
